Apocalypse now

There was a gun placed to my head and I waited for it to go off and thought to myself “it will be fast and no pain.” As expected, I had an uneasy feeling and sense of dread. I didn’t want to die. We were in some sort of post cataclysmic crisis - ok apocalypse, and we were traveling in a group. Government entities were seeking to capture and exterminate everyone. It seemed to me we should definitely flee. I was trying to convince the group to travel to the valleys of the lower Sierra Nevadas as they wouldn’t so easily find us there or expect us to go there since, after all, the climate was hot and dry. But I asked what did we have to lose? If the Native American Indians could do it, then we could too!
