I don't remember much but I'm putting what I know. I was a woman of noble raising who had been chosen to be an advisor for the next queen. During this time I had met a young man (idk if that was their sex or gender) close to my age named Jacob who had become my grounding point. We didn't speak that often but when we did I always felt this electrical charge run through me. At one point he got upset because one of the queen’s ladies came and collected me while I was talking with him. She said to me i “had no reason associating with a mutt” when I in fact was a mutt myself. I had her go on ahead of me. Jacob groaned in annoyance. “Better return to your master.” he said and headed off. I went with the woman and headed to the queen. She sent out her women so it was just us and asked me why I was upset (the queen was a high level empath and we'd grown close.) I explained to her what happened between me, Jacob, and the lady who went to get me. The queen got upset and said she'd take care of the matter. I nodded. After helping with what she wanted advice on she dismissed ms so I changed to move common clothes and headed back into town. I had been walking through town for a while when I suddenly felt arms wrap around me. “Sorry about before. I was kind of an ass.” Jacob said. I turned around in his embrace just to accidentally make his hand brush my breast and me to see him turn a tad red. “It's completely fine. So can we move forward from this now?” I gave him a light smile. Jacob’s eyes lit up. It was like a dark grey brightening to an almost silver. He gave me a small smile and nodded. “Yeah. So for now, let's get some food. I doubt you've eaten yet.” “Not really.” I said as I realized I hadn't really eaten at all that day. The two of us headed through town. He led me by the hand towards a place he liked and we hung out for a bit. At some point he and I had ended up hanging out near a pond just on the outskirts of town when some woman had come over. She had recognized me as the queen’s advisor and was trying to get me to have the queen make her a lady-in-waiting or some nonsense. I shook my head explaining that I didn't have that authority but the woman persisted. Jacob got between me and the woman. “Look lady. She doesn't have that kind of power. Even if she did she's helping me first. So leave. Now.” The woman's expression turned frightened almost before she headed off. I wrapped my arms around Jacob from behind and whispered in his ear, “Don’t worry, I'll always be here to help you to the fullest of my ability.” Jacob placed a hand over mine. “I want to be a knight. I want to help the kingdom. To really serve our queen.” I felt myself tense at that but nodded. “I'll talk to the queen for you. Only this once.” though inwardly I added, ‘Please don't make me regret it.’ Time passed and we parted ways. I headed back to work at the castle and eventually spoke with the queen. She had me personally deliver Jacob’s letter to him explaining where to go to be taught to be a knight of this great kingdom. He thanked me and headed off to be trained. I headed back to the castle. Months passed and I hadn't met with Jacob in a while but I could occasionally see his grey eyes appear in my dreams as if letting me know he was still with me. But then I began to see him in my dreams less and less and got worried because the Knights had been sent out to the battlefield recently as the neighboring Kingdom had waged war. Not wanting a “pagan woman-run kingdom” to be in their christianly territory. So Jacob was out on the battlefield now. I had been summoned by the queen who was there with her lady-in-waiting. “You've been troubled by your friend's absence. I thought it might be good to do a reading to get you some answers. But only if you want.” The queen told me. I nodded and held out my hand to her. She placed the deck on my extended and recited a chant I didn't understand. As she did that I spoke my question inside my heart. I wanted to know if Jacob would be alright. She took back her deck and sat it down on the table only for about five of them to scatter themselves from the deck towards me. The queen, her lady-in-waiting, and I were all surprised by this. The black began to disappear on the cards to make the images. One showed knight in the battlefield. Another a naked woman in chains. Another had a mage and druid with their back to each other. The last two hadn't yet revealed themselves. “What does this mean?” I asked, a sense of dread now crossing over me. “The chained woman is you. It isn't bad either because the chains are loose. She purposely bound herself to whoever or whatever she was bound to. In your case, you bound yourself to Jacob. An imprint that you enjoy having.” The queen explained. I felt my cheeks tint red but I nodded for her to go on. “The knight isn't Jacob. It's how you see him. You see him as a strong and reliable person. Loyal to a fault. But what you don't realize is he needs that armor to feel safe.” The queen said and hesitated, glancing to her lady-in-waiting. The lady-in-waiting nodded, “He isn't completely comfortable with who he is under that armor so he's become a knight to strengthen himself to accept himself.” The queen pointed to the card of the mage and druid. “This is you two. You are the mage. Confident in your magic and yourself but you feel like every choice comes with a price and aren't willing to pay it all the time. He's the druid. His power comes from nature. He'll be well off in battle if he can gain the respect of the other knights. His mind works well enough to limit the casualties but not to stop them completely. You two are each other's Yin and Yang. You were imprinted together long before you met.” I took in what she said and soon the other two cards revealed themselves. I felt my heart stop as the queen’s expression became dark. The image on one card was hard to see but we saw the horse that was being ridden. The white death. I awoke after that.
