Parasitic brain beetles

I was walking on a nature trail, when I saw a few emergency responders gathered around a man. As I walked closer, I saw that he was holding what was probably his child, barely an infant. Something was very wrong with the child's head, who appeared to be unconscious. Disturbingly deep wrinkles had formed on the side of the hairless infant's head, and it looked like it had partially collapsed and lost its rigidity, like some piece of crumpled rubber. Every now and then, a part of the child's head would rise and fall slightly, as if something was moving inside. I was leaning in for a closer look when suddenly, a silver-grey beetle burst out of the side of the child's head, and leapt at one of the emergency responders. Not really knowing why, I turned and ran. I heard screams behind me. *Dream skips* I was in a city now. The beetles were everywhere. People were trying to avoid them, but they were emerging from peoples' heads unexpectedly and attacking uninfested people. On the ground, they moved incredibly quickly. I tried stepping on one, but their shells were too hard to crush. Somehow, I managed to lock myself in the bathroom of some building, and stuff a towel under the door to prevent any beetles from following.
