I Was Denied A Freebie

I'm in a music shop looking at pianos. The shop attendant walks over and offers me an unused book stand free of charge. He says it's good for storing music books at home. I tell him it doesn't fit in with the decor. He laughs at my choice of words and leaves me browsing. The more I consider his offer though, the more I'm tempted to take him up on it. However, before I have a chance to take it, a family walk by and take the stand in a rude manner, saying something in another language before leaving the shop.
