I was with my friend Dove from high school. We were in her parents house. Her older brother, Dean, had a couple young daughters he had left there for them to watch. Dove never wanted kids of her own, but she loved her nieces. She got on to them for being too rambunctious at one point, but then smiled, picked one up real quick, and told them she loved them. We them walked into the living room. The house looked nice. It didn't look like their house, though. I had to look out the window to get a view of the neighborhood to verify if it was the same house she had grown up in or not. It was. It must have been remodeled, I thought to myself. As I pulled my head out of the dark pink curtains, her mom comments, "I know! I never thought the house could look this good!" Speaking of looking really good (even better than before), her mom looked really good, especially for her age. She looked classier than she had when Dove and I were young. I didn't see Doves father anywhere. I got the feeling he had passed, and her mom, Liza, was now widowed and single. I thought Liza might have been happy to see me after all these years, but she didn't seem to care. Aside from that one comment about the house, she just kept watching her television show, no smile or anything upon her face (which actually looked just a little stretched out, as though she had had some work done ). Dove and I moved on to her room. Once in there, we heard a feminine voice calling.... "Dove"... Dove and I both looked around. Again, "Dove"... we looked towards the closet door it seemed to be coming from. A third time, "Dove...". We walked to the closet door and she slowly opened it. We weren't supposed to be opening these doors. They were the borders to a whole other world or dimension or something. Within, everything was pitch black. Dove grabbed a pair of night-vision goggles and put them on. I now see everything from her pov (and everything is seen as it would be looking through the goggles, with the two circular glowing greenish-yellow, OH I DONT KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE IT, JUST WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN YOU LOOK THROUGH NIGHT-VISION GOGGLES, lol (or are watching a movie where they are)... Left side, nothing there, just the wall. We move our vision a little to the right. Still nothing. Just the glow of the goggles. We look a little more to the right, towards the middle of the room. There are some cardboard boxes stacked against the wall, they all look black, and directly in front of them, a dark silhouette. It immediately RUSHES right at Dove, like a jump-scare in a horror film! It grabs her! It's a lizard person, a lizard woman. She looks exactly like a lizard, with a lizard head and face, but she walks upright like a human, she's the average height of a woman, she has no hair but she is wearing a long floral dress. She has no intent to harm us (or rather Dove, i keep saying "us" bc im seeing from her pov, but im actually behind and to the right of Dove, not even in the black closet like Dove and the lizard woman are ). But anyway, the lizard woman has no desire to hurt anyone. She just wants to be left alone, she wants her people left alone, to just live their lives. In between tears, she's desperately screaming at Dove while she goes between shaking her and hugging her, "We just wanted to stay in Georgia and ride horses! That's all we wanted!", she desperately cries. I have an image of her and her family or friends riding horses in the countryside, laughing together, just living their lives.....
AI generated interpretation Thank you for sharing your dream with such vivid detail. Dreams like this often weave together rich symbolism and emotional threads that can illuminate inner experiences and feelings. The setting in your dream—the remodeled family home—might symbolize a blending of past and present, representing how memories and personal history change over time yet remain foundational. The remodeled house looking different but familiar may reflect shifting perspectives about your roots or relationships, suggesting growth, change, or reconciliation with your past. Dove's character and her relationship to her nieces, combined with her ambivalence about having children herself, could depict complex feelings about responsibility, care, and personal choice. The mix of discipline and affection hints at balancing boundaries and love in relationships. Liza, her mother, appears polished and a bit distant, perhaps embodying the passage of time and changes in family dynamics, including loss and adaptation. Her focus on the TV and the subtle suggestion of cosmetic work could symbolize attempts to maintain appearances or control in the face of life's impermanence and emotional distance. The mystical closet representing a gateway to another dimension introduces an element of mystery and the unknown. Closets often symbolize hidden parts of ourselves or repressed emotions. The night-vision goggles may indicate a need to see beyond surface realities, to perceive hidden truths or aspects of a situation/emotion that are not initially visible in the light of day. The figure of the lizard woman is especially poignant. Lizards in dreams can symbolize adaptability, regeneration, and primal instincts. The lizard woman’s demand to be left alone, her tears, and her longing for a simple, peaceful life with her people riding horses in Georgia, evoke a deep yearning for belonging, acceptance, and harmony with one’s environment and community. Her presence as an otherworldly yet compassionate being might point to your subconscious grappling with differences, marginalization, or a part of yourself or your experiences you feel misunderstood or isolated. Overall, this dream touches on themes of change, memory, belonging, and the desire for understanding and peace. It may invite reflection on how aspects of your past and identity interact with current feelings of connection, protection, and the complex dance between individuality and community. If you allow yourself to sit with the emotions in the dream—both the comfort of shared history and the sadness or frustration of the lizard woman’s cries—you may find valuable insights about what you cherish and what you long to heal or protect in your waking life.
