The Orphans in the Cage

I was working as a detective of sorts during the entire dream. On one of my missions, I was heading toward a giant apartment complex atop a hill. By the time I arrived it was already dark out but I could make out the faded dark grey of the bricks and how they clashed with the nearly rusted white gates and bars on the windows. As I approached the complex, I was met by an extremely concerned old lady. She was wearing servants clothing that matched the exterior of the building. She thanked me for coming and told me that "it" is rather active. I waz puzzled by this, but decided to not let my imagination get the better of me. I simply followed her back up to the main gates. Before reaching the gate, I noticed a faint meowing sound coming from inside the courtyard on the other side of the gate. Upon entering, I noticed tiny little hairy hands in a cage. As I approached, their eyes became visible and I (despite my confusion) started to accept that this would be an odd night. The cage was filled with crying and meowing children with feline characteristics of all sorts. The woman escorting me said that they are orphans who have yet to find a home. There was no time to explain as the woman was pressing on into the building. Without lingering too much, I followed. As we entered, I could feel the presence of something sinister. The hairs on my neck was barely standing up when my "guide" answered all the questions I hadn't answered. She explained that I was there to investigate and eradicate the spirit haunting the hallways. Apparently this did not phase me as it was my job (which I realized as she explained). Armed with a camera and a flash light, I moved into the haunted section. I felt a chill growing inside my body as I moved deeper into the hallways. It wasn't long before I felt a strong presence in my immediate vicinity. It wasn't long before the being appeared in front of me. It had an ashen face the size of 5 human faces and its' body was nearly skinless. The clothes were almost the exact same grey as the building and pitch black hair waving across the body almost contrasted all the other colors. It quicly noticed me and started in my direction at a rapid pace. I was almost frozen in place, but quickly snapped out of it. Immediately I started running away and down the stairs. Every so often I peered behind me and saw it moving at the same speed I did. It wasn't long until I reached the floor I was sleeping on. My girlfriend was there and noticed the panic in my voice. I apologized for waking her and started describing the situation while struggling to get any light source working. I could still feel the being approach us and this panic, combined with the frustration of not being able to get light, forced me to out of my sleep.
