A family I didn’t know came to stay in my house. I didn’t even know it was happening until they walked in the door. When they came in, it was two parents and several adorable young daughters, but when I walked into the kitchen, there were two teenage boys and their dad. They were all looking around the kitchen for food, but they couldn’t find anything they liked. I found a container in the fridge that had some sort of stew in it, and I showed it to the younger son. He smiled and said it looked delicious. The dad said “Oh, he likes you.” Then he turned to my mom and said, “You’d better marry her off quick or my son will start getting ideas.” I went upstairs to my bedroom. The mom of the family was standing in my room, looking around. I somehow knew that at least some of the family would be staying there, even though it’s a pretty small room and there were a lot of them. I started cleaning up and making the bed. I was about to change the sheets, but decided not too because I thought patterned sheets would confuse her (?). I also decided not to tell her about the air mattress in my closet, even though I knew multiple people would be sleeping in my room and my bed would only fit one person. I remember thinking to myself “Wow, I’m being so kind and generous. Most kids wouldn’t give their bedrooms to a family of total strangers” and then “It sure would be awkward if that kid tried to marry me, though.”
