I'm stood in a gig venue ( MT - the one with the blackboard of band names) with Meg. There are spinning displays of pictures of musicians that have played. Among them are two framed pictures of me. One is a moving picture video of me performing a song with a stranger I got up to collaborate. Meg and I talk about how getting people up to perform with you never really works. I'm in secondary school. Word spreads that Metallica are playing a small promotional gig in the courtyard in preparation for their upcoming Hardwired album. Everybody runs over there, me included. I run straight to the front and enjoy the gig. Rob is not playing bass. They have a stand in. He is bald and wears a suit. They play a new song from the new album that nobody has heard yet and singer James tries to get the crowd to sing along. Nobody knows the words and the song ends abruptly. The gig is over and the band leave on a very strange boat that looks needlessly high tech and very unsafe. We watch them sail away.
