I wondered from street to street in NYC at night. The city didn’t look like nyc irl, but was darker. The streets were narrower and winding. Sometimes I was with Kelly. Sometimes I went into a bar or dance club. I went into one club and danced with Kelly and Angie. I took some videos on my phone of beautiful people dancing. Mostly I wanted to see people. When I walked the streets I took the time to appreciate the serenity of empty streets at night, but I also sought out crowded streets so I could see people and feel the press of a crowd around me. I walked past a clear tube of flowing water that some people were using to travel from place to place. Two asian girls in swimsuits came floating by, but stopped to check that I was ok. I stopped to talk with strangers. I stopped to watch some sort of concert in an open area outside. Folding chairs were lined up in rows. I sat in one of them. I started talking to a young man next to me. I asked him if he knew the names of the streets nearby. He knew them well, and turned to point them out. He had a kind face and I immediately felt comfortable talking to him. He wanted to hang out longer (he was gay), but I told him sorry I had to go. I stood up and ran my hand through his hair and moved on. I spoke with a strange man who lamented being captured by Roman legionaries. I said “God bless” and moved on. He followed me for a bit, but eventually I lost him. I was walking down a long flight of stone stairs when I noticed the movie “Aguirre, the Wrath of God” playing on an outside screen across the street on front of me. I stopped to watch for a while.
