My friend was showing me around her childhood home. At first, it looked like a basic cottage, blandly decorated, but the more I explored, the more extravagant it became. It was huge. Pretty much a mansion. In her old bedroom, she had this white piano she’d upcycled but she hadn’t painted it very well and it was really uneven and patchy. She also had these pretty floral pattern desks dotted around, like something out of the 1920’s. There were these huge chunky oak wood wardrobes too. I was growing more envious by the second. The rest of house was a maze of beautifully decorated rooms. I was in awe. So much so, I asked her if I could return the next day, to explore the rest of the house. I felt sad as I walked away, knowing I’d never own a house so amazing.
