Shane and Ryan from Buzzfeed Unsolved made a video about a Japanese murder mystery in which they said that a teenage boy who had confessed to murdering a family was actually innocent. This got them in trouble with the Japanese government, or the yakuza, or both, I don’t remember. They decided it wasn’t safe to live in LA anymore, so they filmed their last video from an undisclosed location in the Canadian woods. In this video, they built the house where they planned to live the rest of their lives. It was literally just a hole in the ground covered with dirt, with just enough room inside for them both to lie down. There was an entrance hole and another hole for ventilation, but a third guy, who was a friend of theirs and decided to join them in exile for some reason, was going to sleep there. Then a lady who was supposedly an expert in survival shelters visited them and told them their house was terrible, it would disintegrate in the rain, and having someone sleeping in the air vent would completely defeat the purpose of having an air vent. She told the man, “If you sleep in the air vent, you’ll be the first to die. That’s quite a sacrifice to make. You must be good friends of theirs.” He agreed.
