How Can You Talk?

I'm running alongside a very accomplished runner. I jokingly challenge him to a race to a nearby bridge. As we run, he asks me about some lightweight site laces he gave to me. I'm getting slightly annoyed by the fact that he is holding a conversation without losing breath.
