I dreamed that I was at some sort of institute like a university or military academy. Wooden, big ivy league type architecture, like I'm at Hogwarts or Oxford. And I'm definitely living here. And I'm basically being told that I am going to be paid handsomely to do some kind of tech work, involving computers and software. It's for some government/military purpose, I'm learning as I go, and seems like an important responsibility. As usual in recent dreams, I had this feeling of deep satisfaction and silent elation at my present moment. You could try to attribute this total but quiet joy in my dream to me thinking I was making money, in an important position, or independent. In other dreams it's been human contact and beautiful scenery. I was reflecting on this dream thinking, 'maybe I should try to recreate this dream so I can feel the same way again'... But I think the true joy of these dreams doesn't lie in any of these objects, like most would interpret it to. It's just a mindstate of absolute stillness, completely independent of anything perceptible in the whole world, bringing total peace in any situation. It honestly feels like a taste of enlightenment, based on the many descriptions I've encountered. And I have to believe that this pure consciousness can be attained in waking life and experienced fully, instead of in just the brief, fleeting moments of dreams. I will try to remember that weightless, boundless, transcendent emptiness I experience in my dreams. I think it might be a more relevant experiential reference point than psychedelic trips, in terms of aims for meditation practice.
