Pertaining Zombies

I was living during a post apocalyptic time on earth. Things were relatively stable as we managed to keep everyone safe. The only problem was that most houses have been destroyed to the point where people had to seek different forms of shelter. My family lived on a bridge under a poorly made tent. We have always been aware of the camps near the zombie containment area. Those ones were better equipped to care for families despite their close proximity to danger. My family and I discussed going to the camp and agreed that it would be much better. We shortly after started to pack and prepare for our journey. Because of the state of the earth, most things were only accessible on foot. With our backpacks on and everyone in good spirits, we made our way to the containment area. It was a perilous journey, filled with bumps along the way. But we managed to get there in 3 days; of course we lost some things along the way but it wasn't anything serious. When we got to the camp, I was completely in awe. It was well equipped with electricity and permanent tents filled with furniture and all the basic amenities I'd been used to. Immediately we met with the person in charge (the general) and he assigned us our sleeping quarters. We were told to rest, but my curiosity kept me energized and I was ready to explore. I left the tent to look around and immediately noticed that there is a large fence. I knew it must have been part of the containment area because I've heard of the fence before - it is famously large. Nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to see. I approached the fence and suddenly noticed the general behind me. Needless to say I was startled. We continued to approach together. On the other side was an enormous crater like hole with a massive hospital and a few smaller research facilities (I knew this because the general informed me as we were overlooking the pit). Never in my life have I seen a hole nor structures this magnificent. The only downside was that it was overrun. The government abandoned the research projects and contained all the zombies in this new prison. The zombies were interesting. They were in various stages of infection and decomposition. Some of them still retained the ability to use single words, but they were without meaning. Some of them grunted a basic tune similar to tribal humming. Some people who were near full infection were jumping off the tops of the buildings to speed up their human deaths. Some of the zombies would follow them - probably out of habit as they had done the same when they were alive. It was like an entirely different species living together in "harmony". A few of the zombies were sitting by the fence where we were, but hardly ever noticed us. I rushed back down to find my family. I wanted them to witness it as well. They were hesitant, but came anyway. My mother was shocked and my father interested. My younger brother remained neutral. The general handed out our roles as we were standing there. My father and I were set on guard duty and handed uniforms and weapons - we left and I still don't know what line of work my mom and brother went into. Time passed and we settled in nicely in the camp. Many people have joined since. It seemed like paradise had been found, but something happened. One day during guard duty, I noticed something that hasn't been inside the prison before. The zombies started forming odd groups together - like an army uniform. I knew trouble was afoot. I'm not sure how, but they burst through the gates with sheer force. What they used looked like the arm of a construction vehicle without the attachments. Legions of zombies rushed through the multiple holes in the fence and we were overrun in seconds. I woke up shortly after that
