Strange and scary

I was in this dream but it was like I was watching most if it. I was there but mostly silent. So this mom, me and her child and an adopted kid were all living together. It was a pretty dumpy. They were very abusive to the adopted kid. One evening me and the adopted girl ran away. But she tripped and the other girl caught up to us after a struggle, the adopted girl pushed the other into a hole and she landed face first. We knew she was dead. I kept running and she, for some reason, sat there. I ran over to a town that was all cartoon like but also real. Like a Who Framed Roger Rabbit movie type town. I met a really nice family and had a great time but soon I began to worry about my friend. In a flash, I was back at that dumpy house. The girl was fine and the mom seemed distant but "better." The mom said..." go turn the air off." Even in the dream it was freezing. The girl said "I don't want to..." From the room we were in I could see the AC switch about two rooms over. So I went to it. In the switch room in the corner was the girl's body. I switched it off quickly and ran back to where I was. I tried to get the adopted girl's attention. She wouldn't even look at me. When I looked back over, the dead girl was fast walking towards me.
