Real Ale and Thwarted Kidnap

I'm in a pub with my friends Gary J and Peter K. I am ordering drinks from the bar. My friends want lagers whereas I am eyeing up a peanut based real ale. The barman is subtly trying to persuade me not to order one, offering me whiskey instead. I persevere and end up with my ale. Behind me Gary and Peter suspect there is an attempted kidnap about to take place by a suspicious man hanging around a table of girls. We all approach the girls pretending to know them in order to stall the man while the doormen take him away.
