Australia was part of the US

Instead of being its own country in the Pacific Ocean, Australia was an island near Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, and it was a part of Massachusetts. I learned about this from a tweet that had several pictures of the Australian wildfires with the caption, “Massachusetts is burning”. I was confused, so I Googled it, and found that the Wikipedia page for Massachusetts listed its area as 341 square miles (which in the dream was a really big number) and listed kangaroos as a native species. I just accepted that Australia had always been a part of the US and I had just forgotten.
