What cant I do what is right?

I dreamt I was held up in my home. Children and family were with me. I peek around a corner and see one guy holding a rifle against a person's head. He is asking questions ( I dont remember) and threatens to kill her. I crawl into another room, find a gun and aim my sights on him from another room. I cant pull the trigger. He is about to kill. I cant pull the trigger. I wake up.
